Dr. T. Venkat Vardhan as the founder of DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd has
put Bangalore on the world music map. It all started with a vision to successfully
conduct an event on a scale akin to those in overseas markets, which gradually paved
the way to all that DNA stands for today: excellence, leadership and innovation.
Venkat was born and educated in Bangalore. A student at St. Joseph’s Boys High School,
Venkat later went on to do his Mechanical Engineering at the UVCE in Bangalore.
As an avid sportsman, he has played Shuttle Badminton at the University, State and
National levels and was also the Karnataka State champion in 1980. Today he is an
industry legend who started showcasing events in the late 80s, his first mega concert
being the group Europe in 1988, which was the first of its kind in India that drew
in over 60000 people. With India's economic liberalization in the 90s opening easy
access to foreign exchange and travel, Venkat proved his credentials with the sell-out
Bryan Adams concert at the Brabourne Stadium in 1994 followed by the Yanni concert
in 1997 that pitched him into the global league of concert organizers. Since then,
DNA Networks has handled not just rock stars but also high profile VIPs such as
Ex US President Bill Clinton.
Venkat’ as he is fondly called by his friends and associates, started his career
in Advertising at an early age. His desire to carve a niche in promotions urged
him to develop Event Management as his forte, a field that was relatively new in
the 1980s. However, with his unending commitment he was able to evolve strategies
and events that caught the attention of prominent clients in India like Pepsi Foods
Limited, BPL Limited, Deutsche Bank, Hindustan Lever Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank,
Zee Network, Reebok India Company, The UB Group, American Express, Britannia Industries
Ltd, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Channel [V], Levis, Bacardi Martini Ltd, MTV, NDS,
Canara bank among others who engage the production and marketing services of DNA
Networks. The company had also acquired various rights from overseas to bring in
International Artists and present quality live entertainment. In his plush office
surrounded by rock memorabilia - including dozens of guitars signed by some of the
world's greatest guitarists and mementoes/awards - Venkat declares his ambition
to become a major player in the concert circuit of Asia in the years to come.
